ROLE

Paul leads a team of sales/use tax professionals in DMA’s east central, midwest, northeast, and central regions. He ensures that the team embraces DMA’s Client Service Principles and that best practices are utilized to deliver exceptional services to DMA’s clients. He also works closely with clients and DMA’s sales/use tax professionals to develop and implement tax planning strategies that result in significant tax savings. Paul plans, organizes, and manages sales/use tax recovery reviews for large public and private corporations. His team analyzes clients’ transaction tax data, reviews sales/use tax audit assessments, and files the necessary refunds and appeals. He also negotiates with auditors and hearing officers regarding audit assessments and refunds, performs sales/use tax managed audits on behalf of clients, establishes managed compliance agreements, and provides sales/use tax training seminars. Paul proactively works with state tax authorities to ensure DMA’s clients receive equitable treatment compared to other taxpayers in the same state and industry.

  • Former Tax Manager with a Big 4 firm
  • Four years of experience with the Ohio Department of Taxation, Sales/Use Tax Division, where he performed audits of mid-size to large corporations
