ROLE
Mark manages DMA’s State Income Tax division, including overseeing the division’s Tax Recovery, Current Year Compliance, and RAR Compliance operations. Under DMA’s working director model, he works closely with DMA’s state income clients, which are primarily Fortune 1000 companies, to ensure they are paying the correct amount of state income and franchise tax by reviewing returns for tax minimization opportunities, including detailed analysis of state modifications, apportionment, and tax credits.

- Provided a joint-state amended return and tax recovery project for a large Fortune 500 financial institution
- Oversaw the preparation of over 1,000 amended state returns and was able to implement several tax minimization strategies, resulting in over $5 million in refunds in tax and interest reductions
- Worked closely with a large pharmaceutical company to amend over 3,000 state and local income tax returns over multiple IRS audit cycles while implementing tax savings opportunities, resulting in over $9 million in tax savings
- Worked with a global leader in water, hygiene, and infection prevention solutions to review and file over 1,100 state and local income and franchise tax returns, identified over $2 million in tax savings, and turned the project into a value-add—with the tax savings funding all of the compliance fixed fees
- Generated over $67 million in state income tax savings for clients
