In this webinar, DMA’s team of experts will discuss best practices for participation in the state of Delaware Voluntary Disclosure Agreement process. Together, we will also cover best practices surrounding the detailed records review that must be conducted during the VDA process, including thoughts and advice regarding what records to focus on and how to address missing records, gaps in unclaimed property reporting, and the potential use of estimation for reporting periods where complete and researchable records do not exist. We will also discuss necessary supporting documentation for entering and completing the VDA process.

    • Benefits to entering the VDA process and conditions for entry
    • Legal entity scoping
    • Assessing property type inclusion
    • Identifying available exemptions
    • Reviewing records, including missing records and estimations
    • Finalizing and submitting VDA
    • Annual and ongoing compliance efforts

Who should attend? This webinar is intended for any employee or manager tasked with unclaimed property compliance efforts, or tax professionals seeking to come into compliance in Delaware. This event is beneficial to businesses incorporated or located in Delaware. Practitioners and representatives from state/provincial and local tax agencies and service providers are not eligible to attend this seminar unless invited by DMA as presenters.

After completing this course, participants will gain an understanding of (1) why their companies may have been selected to participate in the unclaimed property Delaware VDA, (2) the VDA process as a whole, (3) Delaware’s general approach to the VDA review, and (4) how to mitigate potential impact with other states and properties.
