Discover What Makes Life at DMA Truly Unique
At DMA, we believe in cultivating a positive work culture. We have seen that positivity goes a long way in attracting new talent, driving engagement, impacting employee happiness and satisfaction, and increasing job performance and productivity.
We focus on bringing work-life balance to the forefront and allowing our employee-ownership program to drive our culture.
Be More Than an Employee, Be an Owner
DMA offers ownership in the company through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan at no cost to you. Be part of a team where everyone contributes and shares in the growth and successes of DMA.
The DMA ESOP was designed for employee-owners to accumulate additional income for retirement and to enhance their interest in DMA’s success. The ESOP is connected directly to the performance of DMA—based on EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization). The contribution is targeted at 6% of your annual compensation, which can increase or decrease each year based on meeting our EBITDA.
Did you know that ESOPs
Are a Growing Workforce of Owners
Around 14.7 million people participate in an ESOP.
Build Wealth While You Work
According to a study by Rutgers University, the average employee can accumulate’ 29% more in an ESOP than the average 401(k).
Pave the Way to Long-Term Financial Success
A 2017 report conducted by the NCEO with support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation compared workers with employee ownership early in their careers, ages 28 to 34, to their peers without employee ownership and found that being in an ESOP was associated with 92% higher median household net wealth, 33% higher median income from wages, and 53% longer median job tenure.
Are the Preferred Choice
72% of Americans prefer working for an employee-owned company over one owned by conventional shareholders or the government. At DMA, employee ownership isn’t just a concept—it’s a reality. We believe in empowering our employees and fostering a workplace culture where your voice matters. This approach leads to dramatically low turnover rates and ensures that our team members feel valued and motivated every day.
Create Job Stability
Employee-owners enjoy significantly more job stability than non-employee-owners. The median tenure for employee-owners is 5.2 years, compared to just 3.4 years for non-employee-owners.
Lead the Way
A 2018 study conducted by the NCEO with support from ESCA found that ESOP participants represented in the survey have more than twice the average total retirement balance of average Americans.

In the 19 years that I have worked at DMA, I have to say that what I enjoy most is the culture. I believe the core values of providing excellent service to our clients through collaboration and teamwork speak to culture that’s been cultivated here. The essence of the DMA culture is that we are stronger together. The culture here has allowed me to grow professionally and personally. My colleagues have provided the support needed to learn and gain more experience in the tax industry while also caring about and supporting personal passions as well. Being an employee owner is another attribute that I enjoy about DMA. It provides additional motivation to see our company grow and succeed. As for work-life balance, I must admit that sometimes comes in waves but that may be more because of my desire to serve our clients well, as I want to be a good reflection of DMA. However, I am appreciative of the flexibility that DMA affords me allowing me to be more engaged with my family and community. |

It might sound cliche, but truly I enjoy the people the most. I work with great people every day who are professionals in their line of work. I also appreciate the flexibility that DMA offers. I think it is a combination of the people, the work life balance, employee ownership, and the ability to work with professionals that care about delivering excellent results. Teamwork is a one of our values and I think it is truly reflected in every aspect of the business and across service lines. The work culture has immensely supported my growth. DMA actively encourages ongoing learning and I regularly attend events hosted by SHRM to learn more about HR and obtain certification credits. In addition, I am able to pursue projects or initiatives that I am interested in that also benefit DMA. Personally, I have grown so much – I have learned so much about myself, about others, and about how to be a great person. There are so many role models in DMA that it makes it easy. Being an employee-owner to me means that we are all in this together and we all have the same goal – to increase the share price. People help each other out and there is no competition or cut-throat mentality. We all want to work hard to increase the share price and benefit our own retirement funds. Work life balance for me looks like supporting and spending time with my family while also delivering excellent performance to provide to DMA. I work a hybrid schedule generally 3-4 days in the office per week; I enjoy working out of the office! I am an early riser so I typically work 7:30-4:15 or until the work gets done. |

I enjoy working with my colleagues the most. Whether it’s with my direct team or interdepartmental, there’s never a sense of toxic competition, everyone truly wants to see each other succeed which is evident in the positive camaraderie. Something that makes DMA’s work environment especially unique is it’s dedication to putting people first. Everyone has crazy, hectic lives, sometimes at the most inconvenient times, and DMA really promotes leaning into that and working around those challenges for its’ employees, its’ people, so that we can get exceptional work done while still being present in our personal lives. One example of this is unfortunately in August 2023, I had a severely herniated disc and had to have a cervical spinal fusion. Normally with this kind of injury I would be looking at short or even long term disability and the incredible challenges that come with that, in addition to just simply getting better. With the flexibility of my work schedule at DMA, and being able to work from home, I was back to working at my home office after only a week. The fact that I was able to go all of physical therapy, follow-up, testing, and specialist appointments WHILE ALSO continuing to do exceptional work at DMA is something I don’t think I would be able to do anywhere else. One thing unique about the professional growth within DMA is that they really want you to learn the skills that you are drawn to. Whether those skills are in your current department/role or lean elsewhere within DMA, they really want you to learn what you want to learn and utilize the skills that are going to fit you best. Since there is such a positive camaraderie and culture at DMA, I have learned to grow personally by not being afraid to be the person who asks the questions that sometimes may feel like everyone else knows the answer to. I’ve grown by not being afraid to reach out for assistance because I know that my colleagues are there to help me in any way they can. Being employee-owned at DMA means that one colleague succeeds, we all succeed. All the time, dedication, teamwork, and quality as a result of our efforts is directly redistributed to each of us through the ESOP. Work-life balance, to me, means that we no longer have to choose between being a successful professional in the corporate world, OR an involved friend, OR a present daughter, OR a fast runner, or any other aspect of our life that we were previously told we had to sacrifice to ‘get ahead’. We can be both successful inside and outside of our career. |

I enjoy the accountability everyone has at DMA. Since we are all employee-owners, we all have skin in the game and a sense of teamwork that I think other companies do not enjoy. I love our teamwork environment. I find myself interacting not just with my team, but with people in other teams. I feel like people are trying to help each other out and work together towards a common goal. My personal growth is thriving as I am given responsibilities and tasks that push me, rather than just monotonous tasks that some of my friends at other companies face. Employee-owned means we are accountable to ourselves and each other. I feel like we are treated as adults and entrusted to do our best, as it is in our financial best interest. My work-life balance at DMA is great. I have the option to work remotely, and that flexibility helps me have more time to get my work done, rather than spending a lot of time in traffic. |

Working at DMA has undoubtedly been the best choice of my professional career. Being a part of an employee-owned company has opened my eyes to the collaborative, teamwork-oriented work style that is DMA. Colleagues helping colleagues excel and grow in their roles is just a small reason why there is such a strong sense of Family at DMA. Unlike other companies, everyone genuinely wants one another to succeed because we all benefit from it! |
