State Income & Franchise Tax – Federal Tax Reform Impact on States
Dallas, Texas
Tuesday December 11, 2018

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was the most significant revision of corporate income taxation in decades. Unfortunately, many states were slow to address the impact of the legislation on their corporate income taxes. State guidance was scarce, vague, or even wrong. This forced taxpayers to deal with the unknown during compliance. Where do states stand currently regarding federal conformity? Were 2017 state tax returns filed employing the correct version of the IRC? Did states’ slow reaction create opportunities for taxpayers?
