Two Louisiana Bills May Allow for Easier Remittance

by DMA Staff | Jun 25, 2020

Both pending in Ways and Means, HB 428 and HB 429 would allow for single remittances to the state instead of the parish jurisdictions. HB 428, if passed, would remove the authority of the parishes to collect the sales and use taxes it imposes. Instead, the tax would be remitted to the state who in turn would remit to the local. HB 429 addresses the same topic of single source remittance, only the bill is specific to remote sellers. Both bills could go to ballot in November.
