Colorado Passes Bill to Provide a GIS System to Determine Proper Rates

by DMA Staff | Mar 27, 2020

Passing in the beginning of March, HB20-1023, as part of the Sales and Use Tax Simplification Task Force, will establish a GIS database for sales and use tax rates. If a vendor uses the database to determine the rate to collect, they are not held liable for rate errors in collection. The bill also includes language stating that the Department will notify all vendors if the GIS database has changed and that it must always be 95% accurate.
