New Colorado Simplification Task Force Focuses on Online Filing

by DMA Staff | Apr 01, 2019

With the combined efforts of the Office of Information Technology and the Department of Revenue, SB 19-006 proposes an electronic filing system which would combine the filings of both state, local and home-rule jurisdictions. The bill requires the General Assembly to appropriate funds for the initiation and ongoing maintenance. Funds can be funneled from sales tax revenues. Participation will be voluntary for home-rule jurisdiction.

Also in Colorado, SB 19-130 was introduced in February and proposes a variety of significant changes. It addresses state administration of local tax, a singular nexus rule applicable to state and local taxes, and destination sourcing for out-of-state retailers.
