Colorado Extends Date of Compliance to New Sales Tax Rules

by DMA Staff | Dec 19, 2018

Along with most states in the Union, Colorado has imposed new sales tax rules based on the Wayfair decision. As such, companies with annual sales of over $100,000 or 200 transactions into the state of Colorado now have nexus and must register. The state has separate registrations per tax type; therefore, those who were registered for Retailers Use Tax and meet the threshold must not register for Sales Tax and close the Retailers Use tax. This was effective December 1, 2018; however, the state released that it will extend the grace period for companies to comply to May 31, 2019.
